$502 towards $500

My name is Bhavana, and I've been studying somatics with generative somatics (gs) since 2013. I continue to learn as a gs student, and am taking steps towards work as a politicized healer and somatics practitioner.

I strongly believe in the powerful offering of politicized healing and leadership development that gs offers to folks in movement work. Please join me to support generative somatics' critical contribution to social and environmental justice movements.

To say it simply, somatics is changing my life. I'm becoming clearer on what I want -- a question that I've long struggled to answer -- and I feel more inspired and capable in moving towards my longings. Somatics has softened my relationship with those parts of myself that are least comfortable to acknowledge: who I am when I'm threatened, enraged, or despairing. I have more compassion in these moments, and can find paths through those emotions that don't leave me regretting my actions.

This is one personal example of the embodied transformations that generative somatics makes possible for folks in movement spaces. Many of us come to movements with lived experiences of violence or trauma, and our bodies stay impacted long after. Healing from trauma interrupts the tendency to re-enact the violence we've survived; these personal transformations allow us to collectively create relationships and movements with greater imagination and possibility.

And there's more: generative somatics has recently developed their 2018-2020 Strategic Priorities, which will allow for an even more powerful and precise contribution to social and environmental justice movements. Find out more: read this summary document or watch this video!

For generative somatics to grow sustainably, meet this political moment, increase accessibility for poor and working class people of color, and prepare to make a powerful and precise contribution over the next several years -- it needs your support! By the end of 2017, gs aims to raise $325,000 in individual contributions. As a part of this, gs is working to raise $30K in September; I'm a part of the Get Centered: $30K in 30 days! fundraising campaign to make that happen. Will you join me?

As a monthly donor, I will be donating $120 to gs in 2017, and I need your support to raise an additional $500 in September. No donation is too small to make an impact: please consider supporting and spread the word!
