Hi, Its Liz writing with some exciting news and a request for your support. This year I have been accepted to participate in generative somatics (gs) advanced Somatics and Trauma course in Oakland Ca. I have been in study with this incredible organization for the past 6 years and feel so grateful and compelled to continue this development.

I am turning to you, my community, to support me in this opportunity.

Generative Somatics methodology and practice has deeply impacted my life, both personally and as a leader in my community. I continue down this path for my own healing and leadership, to deepen my offering as a one-on-one somatic coach and bodyworker as well as develop my competency to bring this work to small groups here in Madison. I continue down this path to deepen my offer of trauma healing and embodiment for movement leaders and people committed to personal and social transformation. I continue down this path for a return to the truth of deep interdependence on our shared planet.

I ask for your support as a practice of interdependence. I see and feel in my body how individualism and a struggle to survive in a system of capitalism subjects many to violence and divides humans from each other and from the earth.I deeply believe in building resilient networks who take care of each other! I have shaped my life around this. And it is hard for my body to believe that is possible or that I get to be included in it.I want that to change.

Asking for your economic support to participate in this program is a stretch, it is a practice of vulnerability, of sinking into community support and commitment to bring the work home. And so I ask you to make an honest assessment if this is a place you feel compelled and able to offer economic support.

Do you have $5 or $50 or $200 you are able to contribute to my participation?

I commit to holding each contribution with reverence and to let the echos of support trickle into my tender self, into this growing heart.

I would love to share more with you, to answer questions, to hear your own journey with leadership and healing, to deepen our analysis of how healing is critical to movement building and how movement building and systemic change are critical for healing.I would love for this request to be one step in building resilient networks of changemakers and culture shifters ready to stand in our power. If you want to know more about me and my gS story, please read on.

generative Somatics methodology has taught me to center on what I care about and attend to underlying contractions that limit what is possible in my life. I have healed layers of shame and deepened into authentic relationships based on mutual dignity and consent. I believe these skills are necessary for the survival of our species and for the opportunity to thrive in right relation to the earth and each other.

I found this work at a time when I was deepening my politicization around racial justice and working collectively to educate white folks on the h'story, systemic nature, and impacts of white supremacy. I found myself in many deep contradictions, for example, how to hold the true and violent h'story and current day practices of genocide, theft of land, and slavery from a systemic analysis while also taking centered action in my own life to change this course. I felt in myself and saw many folks struggling with white privilege and defaulting to a paralyzing shame. I found a path through this difficult terrain with gS and I found others who grappled with similar and interrelated concerns.

generative Somatics methodology has taught me to face what is difficult for the sake of what i and we collectively care about. I have felt it and seen it in others I support with this methodology, the EMBODIED transformation- changes that hold up and offer us new choices -even while UNDER PRESSURE.

I see how powerful and impactful this methodology is both personally and for our movements for social change. when we can face the reality our bodies hold and attend to underlying needs so much more becomes possible. When we learn to be in mutual connection and face conflict we can address concerns as a group and make moves that are move strategically effective. We commonly live in a cycle of oppression creating trauma which perpetuates oppression. When we heal our trauma, more becomes possible.

In our current political conditions, generative somatics (gs) is needed more than ever. You can read an overview about gs's work, here.
